2017 Cottage Show coming soon!!

Well it is that time of year again where we are looking for inventory to take to the Spring Life Cottage Show in Toronto. I went to this show last year and meant some very serious buyers for our area. Also the show is a great place to take the whole family with all the different vendors, food, swag, shopping who knows what unique item you may find to bring home. Last year when I went there was a company that was selling BBQ’s and man did I ever get an eye opener regarding outdoor cooking experiences. I mean there were LED lights everywhere and why not?? What a whole new cooking experience for summer. They had several outdoor activity options for the outdoor enthusiast and even things for your pet, great place to check out!

This is such a great opportunity to market your property to people looking in our specific area to re-locate or finally get on the water. Several buyers are looking for fixer uppers, move in ready or vacant land to build their own dream get away. Either way the spring cottage life show is the place to get your property noticed. If you are interested in getting your property on the market for the spring rush, please don’t hesitate to call me and I would be more then happy to do a free opinion of value.

Happy New Year 2017

A New Year with new beginnings is facing all of us right now, and the question that keeps popping up all over is “What is your New Years Resolution”? Well, I must admit I am drawing a bit of a blank with that question this year. I know we all try to eat better, work out more, spend time with loved ones and I think in generally try to be a better human being, but what is the one thing that I could do different this year?

I owned what was once a very successful business and not only because of where the business went in terms of income or branding but I loved the relationships that I developed because of that business with my customers. I have some customers that are more like family and have been a huge support in my career as a realtor. So I think if I had to pick something that I want to make more of an effort this year than any other year I would pick……… nothing…. YUP at this moment I just want to do this, real estate. Helping you to the best of my abilities and if that is better this year than other years that is wonderful. Being the very best version of you while you do something you love and are able to help others get to a place in their lives that makes them happy is extremely rewarding and I just want to do that better.

Happy New Years Everyone, Wishing you all Health, Happiness and Success in 2017

Winter Wonderland in Cottage Country North Kawartha

What a lot of snow we have had this last week! It feels like all we do is shovel, plow, rinse and repeat. The other day I was able to capture this photo and before I took the picture I remember thinking “Wow” what a Wonderland we live in around here. This beautiful side road near Jack’s Lake had fresh snow on it and it just made for a perfect picture. What a beautiful drive around the lake that morning.

Living in cottage country makes people think of summer weather, out swimming and boating and fishing, too many times we forget about the beautiful winter months that you can spend at your cottage. Going out for a beautiful walk in the woods with your snowshoes, ice fishing or snowmobiling and than cozying up to the woodstove with a coffee and baileys or a hot chocolate while you warm up. We truly live in one of the most beautiful areas of Ontario and just because the snow flies it doesn’t mean there is an end to the fun that can be had around here. What a beautiful winter escape in lovely North Kawartha Ontario. Minutes to the quaint village of Apsley where you can do most of your shopping or take a drive to the bit bigger village of Lakefield Ontario, where there are coffee shops, beautiful and unique stores to find that perfect gift for someone special, or just take in the sites. The Kawartha’s are one of a kind 🙂

Enjoy the Kawarthas and all it has to offer from the  Nordic Ski Club, Sir Sam’s Ski Hill near Haliburton, winter camping at Silent Lake Provincial Park or a day on the trails snowmobiling.

Captured a beautiful sunset the other night, just had to share it with you. How beautiful is it when you can look out from your back deck and see nothing but blue/pink sky and tree lines? Welcome to the North Kawartha, Apsley to be exact and the beginning of magic. This town is filled with amazing history, beautiful people and still has that small town feel.img_3710-1 Apsley Ontario has beautiful Lakes with great fishing and swimming.

Hunting season is here, and our little town is quite busy with hunters from all over excited to find “the big one”. With the forests and Highlands Provincial Park in the area, the wildlife is never very hard to find.

This time of year we are looking forward to ice fishing and sipping on thermos’s full of hot chocolate to get us through the long winter months. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing and winter camping are not far away.

Real Estate Investing

I recently have had the pleasure of working with a young couple looking for their first purchase house. These guys are looking for within a certain area and price. Hoping to live in it while they renovate and than sell it as a stepping stone to get to where they want to be. I love seeing that in your couples, that motivation to get somewhere and know its going to take some blood sweat and tears to get there. Good on ya! img_3463Real Estate is one of the most important investments that you will make in your life and it rarely doesn’t show a return. Investing in something for your future, in something that will provide you with a roof over your head, in something that you can turn into a reflection of yourself while each day making money and saving money? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

What a great way to spend a fall day, looking at property and meeting with people who want to invest in their future.

Welcome Fall

img_3234 The leaves are changing and fall smells are in the air. I love those smells, the smoke from our chimney, cool crisp air in the morning, although according to my husband lighting the wood-stove is not aloud until after Thanksgiving! All the canning is complete for the season from our garden and our once busy town is almost back to the quiet season which is bitter sweet for sure.    Our horses are quite happy with the cooler weather and that has given me the opportunity to get out for a couple rides which I have missed. Realestate has slowed a bit from the rush of summer in cottage country.
The fall market in realestate is a bit unconventional in our area so I have been told, but we seem to be busy still with some new listings coming and still have buyers looking. Thinking its a good time to sell, or maybe buy? I would love the opportunity to go over any questions you may have to help you to make that important decision.
Happy Fall Everyone

Are you wanting to relocate? Are you wanting to sell your home?

LETS TALK REAL ESTATE
Making that move to sell your home can be challenging and everything you hear about real estate nowadays can be quite intimidating and scary. What if I could have gotten more for my house? What if I should have waited for a better market? Where will I move to? What is the area like that I am interested in moving to? Are their supports out there for my family and I, if we decide to move? I can help you with all of  these questions so that you can make your decision.
As a realtor it is my job to make sure I give you the facts and in as simple and plane of a language as I can so that you can understand your options and make the decision that is best for you at the end of it. I’m not going anywhere, so whether you decide to sell or buy that new cottage or home now or later that is absolutely okay with me, I just want you to feel like that was the right decision with no regrets.  Trust me when I say that when you do make that decision to move forward with either looking for real estate as an investment or sell your real estate I will do everything in my power to make sure I push to fulfill your expectations.

I love what I do, I live where I do it and I am not afraid of a challenge or hard work. Everything that I have learned in my life this far is from mistakes, challenges and listening to the most important factor………you! Give me a chance and I will do my absolute best not to disappoint you, but to change the way you view your local realtor.

Summer has come to an end in Apsley

Our beautiful little town is less busy these last few weeks with children going back to school and all the vacationers headed home. It’s always a bittersweet time of year for me when September rolls around. Saying goodbye to the warm weather, canoeing, swimming, biking, camping and also to those familiar faces that we have gotten to know each cottage season. I made several new acquaintances this year as well as new friends and looking forward to visiting next summer when they are back up to their cottages.
Living near the Apsley area my whole life, I have learned to appreciate the busy summer time as well as the quiet fall and winter. Now we are gearing up for Thanksgiving and the quieter season to follow.
I just want to send out a huge thank you to all the clients that I have gotten to know this summer, who placed their trust in me and also Bowes & Cocks Ltd Brokerage to find them their new homes/cottages. It really was an honour to be able to work with you all and I look forward to the new faces I will meet in this business.

Beautiful Day looking at waterfront properties on Farquhar Lake

What a beautiful day out on Farquhar Lake near Wilberforce Ontario what I saw of this lake was clear water and a rocky shoreline which boasted of amazing fishing, canoeing, paddle boarding and boating.
There were fish right near shore at the cottage we were looking at today, and what a great view across the bay. Farquhar Lake is a decent size and close to Wilberforce, Harcourt and about 30 min to Bancroft. Check out the waterfront properties for sale on this lake the next time you are in the area.

Looking at property on Jack’s Lake in Apsley, Ontario

What a beautiful day to be out looking at Property on Jack’s Lake in Apsley, Ontario. This lake has such character and variety in its shoreline and views. Jack’s Lake has two marinas, Anchorage Maria and Forest Glen Marina as well as a public boat launch. You would love this lake and all the beauty that surrounds it.
